	3 Matching Avery Ceramic Weights W382 Original, quality part set of late 19th century W&T Avery ceramic grocers' / butchers' counter weights. These weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. These examples are transfer decorated in green with "Imperial" and "4lb" or "2lb" or "1lb" to the top and "W&T Avery Ltd Birmingham" in ribbon swags to the front. These are in super condition with just minor blemishes. The original lead infills used to counterbalance the true weights are still present. These were made by Wedgwood although not marked as such. 4lb = 3.5" tall plus 4.25" diam base. 2lb = 3.25" tall plus 3 5/8" diam base. 1lb = 2.25" diam plus 2.75" diam base. 	1/2lb Avery Ceramic Weight W379 Original, quality late 19th century W&T Avery ceramic grocers' / butchers' counter weight. These weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. This example is transfer printed "1/2lb" to the top "W&T Avery Birmingham" around the base and has retained the lead infill to the underside for counterbalancing to the true weight. 	Pair of Avery Ceramic 4lb & 2lb Weights W378 Original, quality pair of late 19th century W&T Avery ceramic grocers' / butchers' counter weights. These weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. These examples are transfer decorated in green with "Imperial" and "4lb" or "2lb" to the top and "W&T Avery Ltd Birmingham" in ribbon swags to the front. These are as near mint condition as you could hope for with just one miniscule blemish to the top of the "4lb" very near to "Imperial". The lead infills used to counterbalance to the true weights are present and more than that, they are both stamped in the lead with an identical customs and excise mark, 'VR' for the Reign of Queen Victoria over "572" and beneath the Crown for Queen Victoria. A wonderful pair of weights the best I have seen and complete. These were made by Wedgewood although not marked as such. 4lb = 3.5" tall plus 4.25" diam base 2lb = 3.25 tall plus 3 5/8" diam base Click on photo for larger and other views. Price: £1,150.00

	7lb Bronze Weight W371 Original, quality early 19th century 7lb bronze shop counter weight in the original unpolished finish. This super example is well marked on the shoulders with impressed detail "GR IV" for the Reign of King George IV 1762 to 1830, dagger motif, "VR" for the Reign Queen Victoria 1837 to 1901 and the coffee pot logo. 	14lb Parnall & Son Brass Weight W370 Original, quality late 19th century bell shaped grocers' / butchers' shop counter weight impressed to the top of the ring handle "14lb" and to the shoulders, "VR590" beneath the Royal Crown and a circular stamp containing the name of the manufacturer "Parnall & Sons Ltd, Narrow St, Bristol". 	Avery 4lb Brass Weight W369 Original, quality late 19th century cast brass grocers' / butchers' bell shaped shop counter weight. This example is impressed "4lb" for the top loop and "W&T Avery Ltd" for the maker to the shoulders. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. 	Half Pound Ceramic Weight W368 Original, quality late 19th century Grocers' or Butchers' shop counter weight in white ceramic in a "cottage loaf" shape. This smaller example is complete but it does have a scuff or two to the top and an edge knock to the base otherwise all is very clean. The top is transfer printed "Imperial Enamel Weight" and " 1/2 lb". These ceramic weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. 	1lb Ceramic Weight W367 Original, quality late 19th century Grocers' or Butchers' shop counter weight in white ceramic in the shape of a "cottage loaf". This example has poor restoration to two areas to the underside of the top section which could be improved considerably. These ceramic weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. This 1lb version is transfer printed to the top "Imperial 1lb" and is complete and in good order. 2.25" tall. 3" diam of base. Click on photo for larger and other views. Price: £100.00


	W&T Avery 7lb Ceramic Weight W365 Original, quality late 19th century Grocers' or Butchers' shop counter weight in white ceramic in the shape of a "cottage loaf". This large example has some damage to the reverse under the top grip which could be restored but otherwise all is complete and in good order. These ceramic weights were only in use for a very short period and were made illegal in 1903 or thereabouts. This 7lb version has a band of green decoration around the lower rim, a ribbon swag to the shoulder with details for the manufacutrer "W&T Avery Birmingham", good wear marks to the underside and the original lead infill to the base. 	14lb Brass Weight W364 Original, quality late 19th century 14lb shop counterweight with an open ring grip to the top. This super example is stamped "14lb" to the top and a crown over 'T' over 'B' to the side of the grip. The underside has no customs marks which is most unusual. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order. 	8 Ounce Brass Weight W350 Original, quality late 19th century cast pink brass grocers'/ butchers' counter weight impressed "8oz" to the top of the grip. Very unusual to find these weights in pink brass. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good order. 2.5" tall x 1.5" widest at base. 	Circular Brass 4lb Weight W337 Original, quality circular brass weight, feels to be lead filled ? The upper surface is embossed "4lbs, AVDP, 20lbs, Sq. In". "Patented March 11 84" (is it for 1884 or 1984 ?) "Crosby S.G. & V. Co Boston U.S.A". Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and in good order. 4.5" diam x 0.5". 	Run of 5 Bartlett Brass Weights W335 Original quality late 19th century run of five matching tapered cast brass grocers' / butchers' counter weights "7lbs" to "8oz". Each weight is stamped to the top with the weight and the larger ones are stamped for the maker "Bartlett Bristol" to the underside.
