Original, quality early 19th century large salt glazed harvest jug in two toned glazed colouring of dark chocolate to the upper and coffee colour below. This jug has a variety of embossed detail including a band on the shoulders of grapes on the vine with the leaves, a fox hunting scene with hounds and, unusually, with riders not on their horses but standing beside them, helping the hounds over the fence and gate. This fine example and great looker, has an old restoration to the back of the top rim and a faint hairline crack to the underside, otherwise a wonderful looking salt glazed harvest jug of good proportions.

Huge Salt Glazed Harvest Jug J154
Original, quality huge early 19th century salt glazed stoneware harvest jug in two-toned glazed colours of coffee brown to the upper section and buff colour to the lower. This jug is covered in good detail in relief, of hounds chasing a fox with horses and riders, a large palm tree, Doctor Foster with his umbrella, George slaying the Dragon, an oak tree, a large Windmill and two figures drinking ale. Having described what a fantastic jug this is in detail and in size, it has been substantially repaired and the lower section has been in several pieces. All can be clearly seen in the pictures and in the flesh. Although the handle appears intact, there is very minor chip to the spout. Above all it is a serious jug of considerable age and a great looker. 13" tall x 11" + 12" wide including handle

Original, quality insulated copper jug designed by W.A.S. Benson circa 1900, in the original nickel plated finish and of an unusual shape. The insulated interior has a nickel liner the conical lid has a shaped grip and hinge and the shaped body has a side strap handle and a good sized pouring lip. The grip to the lid is stamped "W.A.S. Benson's patent" and the strap handle is stamped "Bensons Patent". The front of this jug is also engraved "Presented to Mr & Mrs E.W. Stevens by Friends at South Norwood, October 1912". The nickel plating to the exterior is very bright and clean with some minor bleeding of the copper base to the edges. All is complete and in superb condition. 8" tall, 6" wide and 7.5" including pouring lip and handle.

Doulton Aquarius Tilting Wash Jug J146
Original, quality late 19th century Tilting Toilet Jug on the original cast iron stand. The Toilet Aquarius was an invention by J.J. Royle of Manchester and manufactured by Royal Doulton. This example was manufactured between 1891 and 1902 and was a special commission for Abram French & Co of Boston USA. The cast iron stand has been painted white in the past which could be removed if required and bears the registration date of 1902. The jug has various transfer printed details to the underside and is decorated top side with yellow chrysanthemums and acanthus leaves detail. Both the jug and the cast iron stand are in good order with no chips or cracks etc. and are complete. A fabulous find, the third one I have had in the last 40 years. When on stand total 14.5" tall x 17.5" wide plus 9" front to back at floor.

The insulated interior has a nickel liner, the conical lid has a shaped brass grip and hinge and the main body has a side brass strap handle. The underside is stamped for "Benson" with the logo of three hammers in a shield, "British Made" and "WASB". All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good order. 4.5" tall x 3.75" base diameter and 4.75" front to back including handle.

Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, huge banded, white ceramic, bellied shaped water jug used to fill matching ceramic footbaths. This superb example has a strap handle to the rear, a super pouring lip and a decorative but effective hand grip to the front. Sadly this one is a little damaged, but still a great looker and still usable, despite the chip to the pouring lip and the 4" hairline crack from the top at the back. This jug needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. 11.25" tall x 9" wide and 12.75" front to back including handle and pouring lip.

Original, quality late 19th century ceramic toilet jug originally part of an ewer and basin set. This super example is in the form of a stylised seashell with a handle over the top and the crests of waves to the plinth. The handle to the top has simulated binding, and the whole jug is transfer decorated with yellow 'dog' roses with a bright yellow colour overall. The underside is transfer printed for "Bros trademark Stoke on Trent Staffordshire" and embossed with the registration number for the year 1899. All is complete and in good order, with not a chip or blemish in sight.

Doulton 4 Piece Watchman Series Jug and Basin Set JB45
Original, quality, 'Watchman Series' four piece, matching, original Royal Doulton ewer and basin, chamberpot and soap dish, with lid. The undersides are all marked with the printed detail of the Royal Doulton logo with the lion on the crown and with the registration number for the year 1902. The bowl, chamberpot, soap dish and lid are all perfect, but the jug has a large crack which has been repaired with six old brass rivets, a super old repair. This set has a buff coloured background colour with sepia detail and the occasional infill of pale blue. The bowl is decorated inside with a continuous picture of timber framed houses with cobbled street and the outside has ribbon swags detailing "Watchman What Of The Night" three times. The jug, of a serious Art Nouveau shape, has timber framed building and a large picture of the Watchman with his lantern over his shoulder. The chamberpot again has timber framed buildings around the outside, the soap dish has similar to the lid with hanging lantern and calling rattles to the outside of the base, although the drainer from the soap dish is missing. Apart from the repair to the jug, all is complete, in superb order and very desirable.

Jug 10.5" x 9" wide.

Bowl 15" diameter x 4.75" tall.

Soap dish 5" x 3.5" tall.

Original, quality, cream coloured ceramic ewer, originally part of a jug and basin set. This example is decorated with coloured scenes of geese on a pontoon over a pond with bullrushes and water lilies and has anaesthetic movement design border to the topside and underside of the rim. Transfer printed to the underside with the logo for "Oriental Ivory" manufactured by "Bishop Stonier" and has the embossed registration number for the year 1887 and "Severn" for the pattern. All is perfect and complete.
