Stoneware Lard Tub with Lid LT9
Original, quality late 9th century two tone glazed stoneware Lard / Butter Tub with the original lid. The front is incised and infilled in pale blue for the manufacturer of the original contents "Hugh Mackenzie 43 Carlyle Place & 11 Spring Gardens Edinburgh" and "6" for the size six pints. The side beneath the handles is impressed for the manufacturer of the tub "Buchan Waverley Potteries Portobello". One tiny chip to the beaded decoration to the rim of the pot and two chips to the edge of the lid. Otherwise all is complete and in good order and a most unusual find.8" tall including lid x 8.5" widest and base 6" diam.

Original, quality 1920's clear glass soda syphon with the original chromed top fitting. This very clean example is acid etched to the glass for the supplier of the original contents "Alfred G. Cox High Class Table Waters Newbury". The chromed tap is impressed for the "Newbury Mineral Water Co". Complete and in good order, but suitable for use. 12" tall x 4" diam.

Original, quality sheet brass 'button stick', used when polishing brass buttons still fixed to the uniform, this prevents staining to the cloth. This example is stamped to the front with the patent number for the year 1917 and "WHB" and to the reverse 'W.D' with the broad arrow mark bolt for the "War Department". Complete and in good and working order. 6.75" x 2".

Original, quality 1920's surface mounted brass door lock with the original keep and key. Will take a standard modern square bar for the handles and has the provision for a handle turn and a key lock. This small example has a sheet brass casing with a shaped flange to the lock with six screw holes for mounting and a cast brass keep with two countersunk screw holes. Fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and complete and in good and working order. Both locks are the same hand. Lock 5.75" x 3.75" x 0.75". Price is for each.

A replacement keep has been made to suit and an old key altered to fit and has the provision for a handle turn and a key lock. The file marks are the original to when the lock was manufactured. Fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. Lock 5.25" x 4" x 0.75".

Brass Rim Lock RL756
Original, quality 18th / early 19th century cast brass surface mounted door lock with a heavy shaped outer edge to both the lock and the original keep. Will take a standard modern square bar for the handles. An old key has been altered to fit and this lock has the provision for a handle turn, a key lock and a security slide on the inside of the room, which overrides the handles and the key lock. This lock also has concealed fixings, so when mounted no screws are visible and it has a double throw to the lock. The internal mechanism to this superb lock has unbelievable detail and finish considering it would be hidden from view always. Fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. Lock 8.25" x 6" x 1.25" front to back.

Original, quality late 19th century single cast pink brass door pull with diamond shaped square backplates, each with four screw holes for mounting and a cranked pull bar with turned decoration. Originally designed for a vertical pull but would be fine for both vertical or horizontal. One backplate is impressed with the registration number for the year 1899 and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order. Total length 10.75" x 2.5" tall and 2.5" front to back + backplate 2.5" x 2.5".

Original, quality pair of early 19th century drop handles in the original unpolished and patinated green finish. These most unusual and larger than average pull handles probably from a large planter or coffer, would be ideal for the same or as front door pulls / knockers. Each has the original square hand cut brass nuts and the pull grips have stops to the back to ensure the lift does not crush your hands. These can be polished back to shiny brass on request at no extra cost. All is complete and in good and working order. Backplates 9.25" x 5.25" and total 1.5" front to back.

Wrought Iron Rim Lock RL755
Original, quality, early to mid 19th century, blacksmith made wrought iron surface mounted door lock, with a replacement keep made to suit and an old key altered to fit. This lock has a sliding brass knob operated from the inside of the room only and a key lock operated from both inside and out. A brass security slide to the end of the lock will overide all other action from inside of the room. The handle slide and the key operates the same tongue and the key overides the handle action. This lock has brass fittings to both the keep and lock and has been fully overhauled, cleaned and finished in a coat of clear lacquer and is complete and in good and working order. Lock 8" x 5" and 1".

A superb example with a brass maker's plate fitted to the front detailing "Hobbs & Cos Lever, 76 Cheapside London. Fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and complete and in good and working order. Lock 8" x 5.5" x 1".
