Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, superb twin candle reading lamp with a circular base, two columns and a lift off faceated reflector. When the reflector is off, each stem has a bayonet fitted cap which will twist off when required to fit fresh candles in the spring loded chambers. The candles should burn away when in use and not leave dripping residues. All was originally nickel plated on brass and the reflector on copper. Most of the brass is showing, but only a little of copper can be seen bleeding through on the reflector. A superb example, most definitely the best condition one we have seen to date. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Original, quality, heavy late 19th century, pink cast brass letter flap with an integral door pull. This sturdy example has a shaped backplate, a good sized aperture with "Letters" engraved in 'Gothic' style upper cased text and a solid cranked door pull bar to the front. Replacement nuts, bolts and spring have been fitted and all is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's, cast brass, six branch hanging electric light fitting in the form of a six candle chandelier. Replacement card candle look-a-likes have been fitted to cover the bulb holders and this light has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and new brass UK bulb holders. A length of new brass chain and the original brass ceiling rose are included and all has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cast brass exterior bell pull, for use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock and many other bell fittings of differing types may also be available. This most unusual example is stamped "T.P&S" to the reverse for the manufacturer and has a Gothic design to the rectangular backplate, and a lion's mask as the pull grip. The concealed backplate for mounting has four countersunk screw holes. A super bell pull. Complete and in good and working order.

Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, cast iron fire dogs with Lion heads, legs and paw feet in good detail. The fronts have a brass shield shaped mount and a brass finial beneath, between the legs. Fire dogs were used to rest the fire irons upon - shovel, tongs and poker. This most unusual pair have been cleaned and lacquered and are complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cast brass bar corkpuller with a circular base with four countersunk screw holes for mounting on the bar, shelf or table. This super example has the original turned ebony handgrip and will extract and reject the cork smoothly from a wine bottle in one pulling action. This example, all brass apart from the corkscrew and handgrip, has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order. This corkpuller was manufactured for / by Gaskell and Chamber and is marked accordingly "Chambers Patent" with the trade logo to the main stem. Not a common corkpuller these days.

Original, quality, late 19th century, white ceramic fingerplate with gilt line decoration to the outside edge and with an abstract motif to the centre and a lion holding a crescent on a castellated turret top family crest. Each backplate has shaped ends with a soft point and four countersunk screw holes for mounting. Complete and in good order.

Original, quality 1920's, copper covered wooden coal or log box, with a hinged top lid and a lift out steel liner. The good gauge sheet copper has an overall dimpled effect, with Art Nouveau side handles, hinged plates and front hasp type lifting grip for the lid. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Four small replacement wooden block feet have been fitted to the underside, otherwise all is original, complete and in good and working order.

Original, Sable Antelope half skull with horns, circa 1900, mounted by Gerrard of London on the original oak shield shaped backboard, in the original varnish finish and detailed to the front "Sable" a good paper label to the reverse is detailed for the taxidermist "Edward, Gerrard and Sons". The reverse also has the original metal hanging plate and a painted order referece 3049. A superb mount, all in good order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, decorative brass hat and coat hook, complete with four black ceramic finials mounted on tubular brass stems and a cast brass backplate with three countersunk screw holes for mounting. The stems have a continious pattern of acanthus leaves and the backplate has a mythical creature's face similar to the 'Green Man'. The top two hooks are for hats and the lower for coats etc.

Original, quality, brass jardiniere fashioned from the end section of a huge first world war brass shell case. This example is deeply embossed all round with swags of apples, pears, bunches of grapes and leaves. It has a pie crust wavy top edge, a pair of lion mask side handles with rings, and is mounted on three legs with lions paw feet. The underside is impressed "Dusseldorf 1917, DE7" and "RHM 51". This heavy and rather unusual jardiniere is in superb condition and is polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A great looker and super quality.

Original, quality, superbly mounted Pike in a bow fronted case and glazed to three sides, with realistic ground and reed work to the interior and detailed to the front of the bow glass panel in gilt text "Caught By G.A.W. Griffiths in The Avon, Feb 12th 1889, Wgt 16lbs". The exterior of the case has been cleaned, repainted and re-taped and all is in good order. A well presented specimen.

Original, quality, late 19th century, mounted Bream in a bow fronted glazed wall cabinet. This well preserved and well mounted specimen of 4lb 9oz has good realistic ground and reed work and a painted finish to the interior back, two sides and top. Two original paper labels to the inside of the case detail one in script "Bream 4lb 9oz Caught 21st June 1896 by W Menage Jnr" and the other an oval trade label "Preserved by S. F. Sanders and Son, Naturalists and Furriers, 69 Highbury Park London N". The wooden case has been retaped to the edges, has a wire hanging loop to the back at the top, all has been repainted in semi-matt black paint and the original bow glazed panel has a gilded border trim to the inside. This mount is real Cooper quality and style, although it does have a Sanders label to the inside, I wonder if Cooper mounted it under instructions from Sanders and Son ? Complete and in good order.

Original, quality, glazed stoneware 'Foster Mother' with nine outlets for weaning suckling pigs or lambs etc. This example has two loop handles to the top and is transfer printed to the sides "The Arnold Foster Mother Regd Design 683281" for the year 1951 and "Arnold and Sons, 54 Wigmore Street, London W.1.". This also has the original heating element flex and plug and eight of the original black rubber teats. All is in super order, with no cracks or chips to the body, but the electrical apparatus is only to go with it and is not suitable for use.

Original, quality, large cast pink brass door knocker, with the original stud, circa 1900 / 1920's. This superb example of a good weight has been fitted with replacement nuts and bolts and is complete and in good and working order. This style of door knockers are referred to as 'Doctors Knockers' for they previously graced country manor houses, often being owned by doctors or similar professional persons. Pink examples are always hard to find.

Townshend Brass Postal Balance

Original, quality, late 19th century, brass 'Roberval' letter scale on a very elaborate cast brass base. The scale is impressed to the beam "Warranted Accurate" and "STS" for 'Samuel Turner Senior' and the letter pan is impressed with the postal rates for the year 1871 to 1885. The top of the scale is mounted with a circular pan to hold the set of four brass weights, which are included and are nesting weights with curved rims, with 8oz to 1oz and stamped accordingly. Now to the base, the centre panel has a pierced design of acanthus leaves, seed pods and flowers and the main base has a different, but similar, pierced design, with four corner feet and two end hand grips. These grips incorporate heads of a mythical beast. The underside of the base has retained the old, original finish and is impressed "Townshend and Co" and "T & C" both for the maker and "RD No" for the registration number, but without a number. This is the most elaborate scale we have had for several years. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Base 13.75" x 6.5".

All 6.5" tall.

Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, cast brass electric wall light, rewired with modern three core flex and a new brass UK bulb holder. The backplate has the shape of an ecclesiastical cross and the square section arm starts from a cluster of acanthus leaves and curves over to the bulb holder. This wall light has been fitted with a replacement knuckle joint and can be mounted as an uplighter or a down lighter. Has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order.

Childs Double Hand Cart
Childs Double Hand Cart
All original, quality 1920's, superb, childs, two seater estate cart in ash, originally pulled or pushed around the garden by the children's Nanny or maid, with one or two children on board. Although this looks ideal for a large dog or sheep or similar to pull, it shows no signs of any harness being attached, food for thought. The spoked pram type wheels have solid tyres and work perfectly and support the blacksmith made wrought iron springs. The front shafts are adjustable to suit a varied height of the person pulling etc and they will fold up vertically for safety when still. The small cast iron wheels to the rear are for support when the cart is not in use and the two seats are reversible to enable the two children or one to face backwards or forwards or face each other or facing away, an ingeniously designed little cart, for sake of a name, probably made by the estate or household carpenter. All original and all in good and working order, with no worm.

Total length 66" shafts down plus 44" shafts up.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cut glass oil lamp of an unusual form. This example has the body and foot all in one and sits low on the table and has the top of the range Messenger's Patent brass burner and gallery to take 2" x 1" flat wicks. This brass burner has a slide to lift up the shade and chimney giving access to the wicks for lighting without removing the shade etc. The two wick controls have off white ceramic inserts detailed in black transfer text "Messenger's No2 Patent Duplex". The brass has been polished and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order. A most unusual oil lamp.

Lamp only base 5.25" diameter plus 8.5" tall.

Original, quality, late 19th century, fireproof safe in the original paintwork, with coach lining to the door and the original brass fittings which have been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. The brass maker's plate details "Whitfields Safe and Door Co Birmingham". The interior is in the original green colour with a transfer detail for the manufacturer. All has been fully overhauled, has two keys for the door and two for the interior drawers, all stamped with the maker and again are the originals. Complete and in good and working order.

This superb example has four tubular uprights with a curved down and shaped top mount with six sections and four cast brass finials. The brass has been polished and lacquered, the tin tray repainted black and all is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's, cast brass electric side lamp in a serious Art Nouveau style, three splayed legs with arrowroot leaf shaped feet, a sinewy jug handle shaped grip to the rear and a waisted central stem. No maker's marks but there should be for such an item wth so much style and quality. Rewired with modern three core silk covered flex, a new brass UK bulb holder, switch and a three pin plug. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's, oval shaped copper inkstand with a pair of goblet shaped inkwells with ceramic liners and lift off cast brass caps that have pointed finials. The underside is impressed "Benson" for the renowned Arts and Crafts designer W.A.S. Benson. One ceramic liner is discoloured and has a short hairline crack, otherwise all is complete and in good and working order. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Original, quality, late 19th century, fireproof safe in the original scrumbled paintwork to the exterior resembling woodgrain and the original pale blue trimmed with red to the inside. This example has the original brass fittings to the outside which have been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. The maker's plaque details "A.Webley and Co Bradford St Birmingham". The interior has retained the original transfer and all three keys are the originals, two for the door and one for the drawer. All has been fully overhauled and is in good and working order.

The rear mounting plates and springs are replacements made to suit, copied from originals, is fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's, hanging electric light fitting with a white glass globe mounted with the original decorated copper shade holder and copper ceiling rose. Three piece set of original, quality, mid 19th century, burnished steel fire irons comprising shovel, tongs and poker. These good heavy examples have a faceted finial to the hand grips and tapered stems. The poker has a good long tip and the shovel is pierced to sift through the embers and put back onto the fire all but the ash. All have been burnished and lacquered and are complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, silver plated cakeslice, in the form of a trowel and issued to commemorate the building of a Sunday school. This superb example has a King's pattern handle, well detailed engravings of ivy leaves and berries and details "Central Wesleyan Sunday School, Eastbourne, Stonelaid by Mstr. William Llewellyn, Easter 1907". The reverse has the hall marks for silver plate. Has been lacquered and all is complete and in superb condition.

Four original, quality, late 19th century, brass hat and coat hooks, with white ceramic finials mounted on an oak backboard. Each hook has a decorated stem, a cast brass backplate and all have been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Each coathook has four countersunk screw holes for mounting and all is complete and in good order. Fix to the wall by removing the end hooks, use the holes provided to fix to the wall, then refit the coathooks to conceal the wall screws.

Original, quality, most unusual all nickel 'Motor Union' car badge in super condition. Motor Union was founded in 1901 and amalgamated with the Automobile Association (AA) in 1911. This rare example was issued from 1907 to 1911 and has the original dome headed mounting nuts and bolts and is impressed "5644" and "Manufactured By George Collins Ltd 16 Newgate St EC". Complete and in good order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, cranberry tinted glass oil lamp shade, to fit a standard, duplex double wick burner gallery. This superb example has etched alternate designs, each repeated three times, a flaming Olympic type torch and a stem of Hibiscus flowers. The colour is near clear at the base increasing to a good deep cranberry colour at the very frilly outurned top rim. Great colour and great condition, perfect.

This small example in beech and elm is stamped for the maker and supplier of police equipment "Parker 233 High Holborn" London. The beech body is weighted with two lead plugs and the sounding plate is in elm. A super colour and size and complete and in good and working order and very loud.

Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed if required. The shades are not included in the price. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's, two piece, cast iron, cobbler's revolving nail cup as used on the workbench for easy access to a range of sizes of nails and tacks. This example is embossed to the base "Black Boy Nail Cup" and is ideal as an office desk tidy for paper clips, elastic bands etc or for peanuts and crisps etc. All has been cleaned and lacquered, with some minor casting holes but still complete and in good order.
