Butchers Block on Base
Original, quality post-war butcher's block on the original base. This example, as used in butchers' shops for chopping up sides of meat and joints, is in good and usable condition with a reversible block, both sides of which have been used. The block is made with end on blocks of beech within a bolted up frame of beech and the base is in pitch pine. Not too big an example, complete and in good and working order.

Antler Handled Steel Ham Knife
Original, quality, 18th or early 19th century, steel carving knife with a sharp and wide blade, a heavy antler handle mounted with silver or silver plated collar and end plate. The blade is impressed "W.R. Hotham, Bath" for the maker or retailer. This knife is steel, not stainless steel, and will keep a very sharp edge, but it does not like water or moisture; just wipe and dry thoroughly. A most unusual knife, very sharp, complete and in good and working order.

Haws Galvanised Watering Can
Original, quality pre-war large 'Haws' galvanised watering can with an extra long spout, a handle to the rear and the original brass rose with very fine perforation, embossed "Haws Genuine No 4". This example also has the original circular brass trade label detailed for "Haws". All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order.

Huge Brass Door Knocker
Original, quality, late 19th century, cast brass door knocker with a replacement brass backplate, an old spherical shaped knocking stud and replacement threaded bars, nuts and washers. This superb knocker has the proportion of a Doctor's knocker, but a different shape, more like a swan neck. The heaviest knocker we have had for a long time. Complete and in good and working order.

Copper Coaching Horn in Basket
Original, quality late 19th century nickel mounted copper "Tandem" coach or hunt horn, with a brass mouth piece and the original 'willow' basket carry case. The horn is in superb condition with no dents, engraved for the maker "Swaine and Co London" and polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. The basket with hinged lid is near complete but with some caning loose and some missing, otherwise complete and in good and working order and with a good tone to the horn.

Original, quality mid to late 19th century cast iron "Village Pump". Cleaned and repainted green and 18ct gold leaf. Complete and in good order.
Musgraves Side Saddle Rack
Original, quality, late 19th century, wall mounted cast iron harness room sidesaddle rack, larger than the standard saddle rack. This example has oak mounts with much of the original red paintwork. Although not marked as such, this example was manufactured by Musgraves of Belfast. The backplate has four screw holes for mounting, has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order.

Large Cast Iron Bootscraper
Original, quality large mid to late 19th century cast iron bootscraper with an architectural form. The heavy shaped base has two drainage holes, and a raised bead around and the scraper mount has two turrets and a gothic shaped decoration beneath the scraper. A most unusual scraper of great proportion. Complete and in good and working order.

Floor Standing Dinner Gong
Original, quality late 19th century large brass dinner gong, suspended within a honey coloured oak frame. This example is most unusual to have a circular frame on a central column with a three legged pedestal beneath. The hammer is an old one of similar age, the gong has been waxed on the original patinated green finish and has a super tone and resonance. All is complete and in good and working order.

Huge Galvanised Padlock
Original, quality huge galvanised cast iron padlock with the original key and a brass keyhole with a vertical sliding cover. The cover is stamped "Secure 4 Lever" and the padlock is stamped with the war dept broad arrow mark and "J. Goodwin 1950". The key and the padlock are both stamped "41" and all has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order.

Rabone Well Measure
Original, quality pre-war leather cased 50ft steel tape measure with a fitted cast brass sinking weight. The leather case is embossed to one side for the manufacturer "John Rabone & Sons Birmingham England" and the folding winding handle on the same side is impressed "50ft". The steel tape is calibrated in inches and all has seen very little use if any and in mint condition. Fully overhauled, complete and in good order.

Mounted Otter Head
Original, quality 1920's superb mounted adult otter head on the original honey coloured oak shield shaped backboard with a hanging ring to the top and with the original taxidermist's label detailing "F.W Bartlett of Banbury". A very clean and lifelike mount in good order.

4 Branch Brass Electric Light Fitting
Original, quality 1920's four branch brass electric hanging light fitting with square brass tube arms facing down, all radiating from a shaped central brass column. The original brass ceiling rose is included as is a length of new brass replacement chain. Replacement brass swivel knuckles have been fitted to the bulb holders, all has been rewired with modern three core silk covered flex and new brass UK bulb holders. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. Cardiff Crested Airship
Original, quality 1920's small crested china airship with the Town Crest for the City of Cardiff to the top. The underside is detailed for the manufacturer "The Corona China Stoke in Trent, Hancock & Sons, English Manufacture". Complete and perfect.

Brass 'D' Shaped Umbrella Stand
Original, quality 1920's 'D' shaped brass umbrella stand with a heavy cast iron base, a lift out steel drip pan and a top with five sections and three cast brass finials. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and the iron base and tray cleaned and repainted black. All is complete and in good and working order.

Pears Soap Enamel Sign
Original, quality 1920's long narrow enamel strips advertising "Pears' Soap" in white upper cased text on black and red. Each sign has four screw holes for mounting and are bright and glossy but with chips to the enamel at the edges and corners. These were originally fitted to the risers on the curved stairs on the end of the horse drawn on motorised omnibuses. If ordering online, please state which sign is required, upper or lower as in picture.

Aesops Fable Cheese Dish and Cover
Original, quality, late 19th century, decorated cheese dish and cover. This is one of the most exciting cheese dishes we have seen. This wonderful example has coloured pictorial panels to the top and three sides and decoration to all the edges of both the base and cover and both pieces are stamped with the registration number for the year 1891. First, the very detailed panels. The top depicts a scene from the Aesop's fable The Fox and The Crow', with the fable printed within ribbon swags. One side panel depicts "Too Much Cheese" with three rats at the cheese baited in a gin trap. The other side panel has a rat on the billiard table with a picture on the wall of 'Welsh Rabbits' and the reverse is entitled "Wise Man of Gotham" with a scene from 'The Merry Tales of The Mad Men of Gotham'. The scene shows three cheeses rolling down the hill. Although bright and clean in colour to the outside and decorated areas, this item does show discolouration to the inside consistent with use, as cheese does leave fat stains over a period of time. There are no chips or damage and all is complete and in super condition and ready to use.

Defiant Cabinet Television
Original, quality 1950's / 60's floor standing electric television with fold back doors to the front. This very clean example appears complete but is only sold for decoration or for the look, but who knows? The cabinet is walnut veneer on plywood and all is in the original finish. Some scuffs and scratches but overall a great looker with no worm damage or other rot.

Pair of Engraved and Burnished Steel Fire Dogs
Original, quality pair of heavy engraved steel fire dogs circa 1900/1920's. These were used to rest the fire irons upon - shovel, tongs and poker. This superb pair has shaped front legs and turned stems to the front with engraved detail of swags. All has been burnished and is complete and in good and working order.

Rowntrees Gums Shop Sweet Jar
Original, quality circa 1900 / 1920's cylindrical clear glass shop display sweet jar with the original embossed tin lid detailing "Rowntree's Gums" with Art Nouveau decoration. The lid has been cleaned and lacquered and all is complete and in good order and perfect with no chips or damage. A smaller matching one may well be available ref code: SJ11.

Jay by Macleay of Inverness
Original, quality superb, circa 1900, mounted Jay with wings and tail spread in display and good groundwork. This example by W.A Macleay of Inverness has a glazed front and two sides and an otherwise black japanned wooden cabinet. All is in super condition and very lifelike as expected from this top class Scottish taxidermist whose dark blue label can be seen in the lower right corner on the inside of the backboard. Complete and in good order.

3 Piece Set of Burnished Steel and Brass Fire Irons
Set of three matching mid 19th century burnished steel fire irons with cast pink brass handles and circular covers to the hinge on the tongs. This set comprises shovel, tongs and poker of medium length not too long but very usable. The tongs have shaped grips and good firm hinge action, the poker has a short square section tip and the shovel has a good old repair and a pierced shaped end for sifting the ashes. All have been burnished and waxed and are complete and in good and working order.

Huge Copper Hot Water Can
Original, quality, huge, late 19th century copper hot water can, as used by maids etc to carry hot, clean water to each bedroom, to use in the jug and basin wash bowls. Huge Copper Coal Vase / Jardiniere
Original, quality late 19th century huge oval shaped copper coal vase with the original lid and mounted on four ball and claw feet. This super example also ideal as an indoor jardiniere / planter, has a bulbous body with urn type handles to each end and the lid has the original cast brass finial. A few minor dents, otherwise all is complete and in super condition, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Brass and Blue Glass Oil Side Lamp
Original, quality 1920's brass oil side lamp with a moulded two tone blue glass font and a brass burner and gallery. This super example has a circular stem with diagonal embossed decoration, mounted on a reeded brass mount and a black glazed terracotta plinth. The brass burner has two x 1" wicks, and the control buttons are impressed "Duplex made in England". The burner will take a standard glass chimney and a standard oil shade with a 4" diam lower aperture. All has been fully overhauled, the brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost, all is complete and in good and working order. The glass chimney is included but the shade is not, but it may well be available ref code OS132.

3 Door Walnut Wardrobe
Original, quality late 19th century three door wardrobe in walnut. This clean example will break down into two main body parts, the plinth, the cornice plus the three doors, the largest section is the size of two doors wide although the doors will lift off the body section if necessary. The right hand section was originally fitted out with trays and drawers, but these were removed long ago, and the complete wardrobe is now set up for hanging on two rails plus the bonnet box to the bottom of the right hand section. The two outer panelled doors have raised and carved panels with deep cut floral detail and the centre door has the original bevelled mirror. The brass fittings and locks are the original and can be polished if required and the locks have been fully overhauled with a key for each. Some minor scuffs and knocks consistent with use but all still in the original finish and in good and working order.

Mabel Lucie Attwell Child's Chamberpot
Original, quality 1930's child's chamberpot, manufactured by Shelley and in the original card box. This superb example is decorated with designs of children, with toys by ' Mabel Lucie Attwell ' and with a pale blue top rim and side handle. This chamberpot is perfect and very clean and bright and comes with the original decorated cardboard box a little rubbed in places but generally in good order otherwise. A seriously good find and a delightful piece.

Diagonal Striped Vaseline Electric Pendant Light
Original, quality 1920's Arts and Crafts vaseline glass lantern shaped shade with diagonal stripes, fitted with a brass shade holder and a replacement brass ceiling rose both with olive grip fittings. Pair of Cast Iron Door Porters
Original, quality pair of late 19th century cast iron door porters, with 'D' shaped bases, acanthus leaf decoration and ribbon folded loop grips to the tops. The reverse of one is impressed '466' for the model number and all has been cleaned and lacquered and are complete and in good and working order. Although not marked for the manufacturer A Kenrick and Son of West Bromwich, model 466 in their catalogue of 1876 is identical.

Folding Cutlery Picnic Set
Original, late 19th century, superb quality, leather case, fully lined and fitted, with a pair of flat sided cut glass beakers and a pair of folding spoons, forks and knives. Each set of cutlery slotted into the leather holder will slip easily into the drinking glass. The buff coloured leather carry case has an adjustable strap to the top and is impressed for the original owner "M. C" and "F. C". The handles on the cutlery are in white bleached and polished bone, the knife blade and corkscrew are steel and the top collars, spoon and fork are in nickel. No maker's name to the leather case or the cutlery, but nevertheless a super set, in super condition, appears unused.

Original, quality, late 18th / early 19th century, bronze shop counter weight in the old unpolished green bronze colour. This example is not marked '2lb' but is this size and only has a few indistinct custom stamps but is complete and in good order.

Copper Fire Extinguisher
Original, quality all copper fire extinguisher with good rivets all round, embossed brass labels to the front and cast brass fittings, the top cap, the hose mounts and a handle to the reverse. The labels detail "The Walker Perfection Fire Extinguisher", "made and tested 1939" and 1.25 gallons capacity. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good order.

Pair of Large Wrought Iron T Hinges
Original, quality mid to late 19th century blacksmith made wrought iron door hinges. These larger than average hinges have decorative ends and each strap has seven countersunk screw holes for mounting and the mounting plates each have four. The old wear to the hinged sections has been built back up, all has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order.

Leather Fire Bucket
Original, quality late 19th century all leather fire bucket with the original copper band, riveted to the top rim and the original leather strap. This example is all copper rivet seamed and has the original red paint to the exterior and 'CFB' in white upper cased letters for "The Calne Fire Brigade" (Calne in Wiltshire). A great example and all original.

Cast Iron Hanging String Ball Holder
Original, quality late 19th century shopkeepers' hanging cast iron string ball holder and dispenser. This super example has decorated fretted grilles all round, a hanging loop to the top and each end has the manufacturer's name and address "Clements Newling & Co Ltd, Wood St, London E.C" in fine detail. A delicate piece' difficult to find these days in good order. Cleaned and lacquered and complete and in good and working order.

Oak Gavel
Original, quality 1920's gavel, turned in oak with a presentation plaque showing the remains of an engraved reference. This example, although a gavel, is in the form of stonemason's or woodcarver's mallet and sometimes used as a mason's badge of office. A good usable gavel. Complete and in good and working order.

Lever Brothers Shop Display Cabinet
Original, quality late 19th century beautiful mahogany framed, shop counter top, fully glazed display cabinet to display and advertise "Lever's pure double distilled Glycerine". The plinth has inset white vitrolite (glass) panels, each acid etched. The longer panels "Lever Brothers Ltd, Port Sunlight & London" and the shorter ones "twenty eight gold medals & awards". The front glass is etched "By appointment to H.M. The Queen" and with the Royal Coat of Arms and the top pediment "Lever's pure double distilled Glycerine". The underside of the floor is stencilled "This case is the property of Lever Brothers Limited and is lent for the purpose of exhibiting their goods". The glass panel to the rear is a hinged door with a brass lever handle and opens downward. All is original and in super and very clean condition, but it will set you back a tidy sum.

Cockerel Head Brass Letter Clip
Original, quality mid 19th century cast brass letter clip in the very detailed form of a chicken or cockerel's head with a sprung opening beak as the clip, a red felt 'Comb' to the top and the original gilt finish. This most unusual example has a hanging loop to the backplate and is impressed "Published March 6th, 1850 Messenger to the reverse. A good tight spring and complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality, late 19th century, three piece pewter ice mould for table food decoration. The main middle section in the form of a basket, is hinged in two places and all fits, (when closed up), into the plain circular base and the top section is in the form of a pile of fresh fruit. The base is impressed "3" and "Quart". A most unusual example, very clean, complete and in good order.

Whistling Copper Kettle
Original, quality near mint and near unused 1930's copper kettle with a rattling marble in the spout and a whistle in the lid. The underside is detailed "The Simplex patent solid copper kettle, made in England" and with the patent number and registration number for the year 1933. Oak Jardiniere on Stand
Original, quality 1920's, oak jardiniere with brass bands and side ring handles on the original three legged stand. Whitbreads Pub Jug
Original, quality, pre-war, Doulton two tone brown glazed water jug, with a side strap handle, a pouring lip and transfer printing to both sides "Whitbread's Ale and Stout". The underside is impressed "Royal Doulton England" and "2533". A firing blemish to the pouring lip, but otherwise all is complete and in good order. A good advertising water jug for the bar.

Nickel Mounted Oak Lemonade Jug
Original, quality late 19th century white ceramic lined oak "Lemonade Jug" with nickel bands, lid, handles and mounts. This superb example, the best we have seen has a hinged top lid with a finial, a handle to the front and back, a shaped pouring spout and a shield shaped plaque for engraving. All is in superb order with the original finish to the honey coloured oak and only minor rubbing to the nickel mounts and no chips stains or cracks to the ceramic liner.

4 Matching Brass Croydon Weights
Original, quality matching run of four cast brass bell shaped "Working Standard" weights circa 1880 / 1900. These weights are calibrated 7lb, 4lb, 2lb, and 1lb. Each one is marked accordingly to the top and with "Borough of Croydon Working Standard" to the bottom edge and '3' to the front of each. A super part set of County Standard weights as used by the weights and Measures Department to check scales and weights used by retailers to sell goods to the public.
