Original, quality 1930's ashtray made in cheap ceramic material and issued to celebrate the launching of the "Leyland Cub" vehicles both Bus and Coaches and Trucks in 1930. This example has a black base ashtray with two cigarette rests with a lioness laid out to the back with a lion cub sat up in front. Also, the front of the ashtray is embossed "The Leyland Cub". No chips or cracks but the black coating is rubbed to the high spots. All is complete and in good order otherwise.

Original, quality late 19th century multi drawer dental cabinet in a super coloured and grained mahogany. These were carried on home visits or by dental students during training. This example has seven pull out drawers, most fitted to some degree and all with green baize lining. Each drawer has tiny turned wooden knobs and the top tambour slide locks into place when down and this automatically locks all the drawers also and can be opened with the key. The top of this cabinet has a recessed flush mounted lifting handle in the original old lacquer finish and the top deep drawer has a recessed circular brass finger grip handle. The second shallow drawer down from the top has a later brass plate fitted ready for engraving if required. Overall a super very clean dentists cabinet, not a common model with the tambour top, with all the original fittings lock and key and in good and working order.

Brass Spark Guard Original, quality late 19th century all brass freestanding spark guard. This super example has a decorative diagonal wavy brass mesh screen with a frame of tubular brass rods all mounted on four cast brass legs. Each foot is impressed with the registration number for the year 1881. Complete and in good and working order.

Peal and Co Boot Trees Pair of original, quality late 19th century short boot trees in beech with an extending heel action, a pivoting foot and brass fittings. Each tree has a circular embossed copper plaque for the retailer/manufacturer "Peal and Co 487 Oxford St". All has been cleaned and refinished, and the brass and copper has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A super pair of boot tree, complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality superb pair of good sized mounted perch in the original bow fronted cabinet glazed to the front and two sides. This is a rather late case ( 1957 ) and the back, top and floor are in hardboard, on the good side wood worm do not take to hardboard as they do to plywood. We have removed the glass to wipe down the interior paintwork and glass, to deposit some crystals to treat any intruders past and future, although no signs of mite and we have re-taped the glass all round and repainted the finish. Now a very clean and bright, super looking brace of fish in very good order. The plaque to the front inside details "Perch 2lbs & 1lb 13ozs, caught by D.W. Thrush, Bell Hotel Water, Dowton 11th November 1957". No mention of the Taxidermist.

Original, quality mid to late 19th century blacksmith made surface mounted skeleton door latch with a re-placement keep made to suit, two available handed opposite. These most unusual latches have the provision for a handle turn and a security / privacy catch on the inside of the room which overrides the handles, exposed mechanism and a pressed brass maker's plaque for E.Cotterill's patent. The first we have seen of this Cotterill's patent. Will take a standard modern square bar for the handles. Fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. Original, quality matching run of 14 late 19th century servants brass intercom bells with replacement central brass bosses made to suit copied from an original. Most of the smaller curly springs are also replacements made to suit. Often now referred to as 'Downton Abbey' bells. The steel springs and backplates have been cleaned and repainted black and the brass polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. For use with a tight wire, non-electrical bell system and can be pulled from either left or right. Other parts required to operate this system are usually available in stock and other similar bells may be available on request. Each bell has a different pitch to enable the staff to recognise the sound if not in view of the bells at the time. All have been fully overhauled and are complete and in good and working order. Most difficult to find a long matching run today. Sold as a run of fourteen very similar bells.
Each bell is a different size and vary from 9" tall x 5" wide x 4" front to back plus mouth 4" diam.

Coursing Slip Original, quality late 19th century leather mounted coursing slip to release two dogs at the same time when hare coursing. All is complete with two adjustable leather collars, a nickel plated on steel quick release mechanism when under tension and a turned rosewood hand grip. The collars are both stamped for the saddler/maker in rather indistinct detail could be "Dandy Saddler, Calne"?. An amazing piece of kit still working very well and complete.

This is the first we have seen of the convex sole variant and I can find little reference to it in old catalogues. The hinged body has a black ceramic knob to the catch and the original shaped ash 'D' shaped handle. The heat shield beneath the ash handle is embossed for A. Kenrick & Sons Ltd West Bromwich, the manufacturer and all is complete and in superb condition and cleaned and lacquered.

Huge Cast Iron Ceiling Rose Original, quality, late 19th century, very decorative large cast iron ceiling rose, with great detail in relief of acanthus leaves and flowers. The front has been painted in a variety of colours to highlight the detail, but could be repainted of course and the reverse has a registration lozenge mark for the years 1842 - 1883. This item has four countersunk screw holes for mounting.

This well proportioned scaled down example was presumably issued as a promotional item probably for use as a desk tidy. One chip to the bakelite otherwise complete and in good order.

Set of 5 Doulton Harvest Jugs See our "Bottles, Jars & Flagons" section for current stock of similar items.
Set of five original quality two tone, glazed harvest jugs in graduated sizes, manufactured by Doulton & Co Lambeth and all impressed to the front 'Mr and Mrs Dunn June 11th 1905'. Each jug is two tone with dark glaze to the upper half and buff coloured to the lower and all are decorated with applied reliefs of gents drinking and smoking and of a horse with a rider and hounds chasing a stag. All are complete and the largest and smallest are perfect but the other three do have some damage which does not detract from their appearance. The largest of the three with some damage has a star crack to the front, hardly visible. The second has a chip and short hairline to the top rim and a horizontal hairline to the front and the third has chips to the rim only. All the decoration and the glaze otherwise is perfect, sharp and bright. The underside is impressed with an oval mark detailing 'Doulton & Co Lambeth'. A super set of jugs, great lookers and really in lovely condition considering.

Original, quality late 19th century cast brass Pub Counter Corkpuller. This superb example has a wrought iron adjustable clamp for mounting to a bar top, shelf or table. The main body is impressed "The Merritt" to the brass and the clamp and the pull up and down handle has an original turned "ebony" grip, which is standard but special. To operate, the ebony grip needs to start at the top. The first pull down will twist the helix into the cork, retract the handle and the cork will be extracted from the bottle. Follow the same action again and the cork will be ejected. A smooth operation, corks are pulled from the bottle easily without a fuss. The internal mechanism will need an occasional oil using the hole on the upper surface halfway up. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. A beautiful corkpuller in use.

Original, quality mid 19th century very detailed and large cast iron door knocker with a replacement knocking stud made to suit and replacement threaded bolts and nuts fitted. This superb example has two entwining stylised fish either side of a bearded head and another pair of mythical beasts devouring the tails of the fish. The reverse is impressed with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1842 and also 'No 1692' and '22' both in script for the model numbers. This example is detailed in the Kenrick Catalogue of 1876 but it has the code number 299. All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order. A most unusual cast iron door knocker, the first we have seen and a huge one at that.

Original, quality 1920's cast brass double coat hook ( side by side ) with an oval backplate with three countersunk screw holes for mounting. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century five piece steel meat carving set in the original fitted pale walnut case. The box interior is lined in red velvet to the base and red silk to the lid. The set comprises a joint carving knife and fork, a poultry carving knife and fork and a sharpening steel. The knives have "Scimitar" shaped blades, both etched "L&S Sheffield Best Cast Steel", the sharpening steel is impressed "Cast Steel" and the forks have good spring guards. A very clean set showing very little, if any, signs of use, complete and in good and working order. Remember, these pieces of cutlery are steel, not stainless steel, and will keep a very sharp edge, but they dislike water or moisture; just wipe and dry them thoroughly. The exterior of the top of the box has an inset brass plate for engraving and some scratches and scuffs.
