Edwards Desiccated Soup Tureen Stand Original, quality 1920's oval white ceramic display stand advertising "Edwards Desiccated Soup" and "One Penny E.D.S.". This super item, the first we have seen, is decorated all around in black, orange and red with a repeated scene of nine children, one black cat and a cook following the head cook holding a tureen of soup. The children are carrying a spoon and or a bowl waiting for a fill-up. Each end has a cameo of the head cook with a tureen of soup being the "Trademark". The underside has the printed logo for the manufacturer "Grimwades". All is in good order with no chips, cracks or blemishes. Some fading and rubbing wear to the colour and printed detail otherwise perfect. A most unusual promotional item.

Original, quality late 19th century huge fitted shop counter / chest of twenty-four deep drawers, all in top quality pine. The top was badly marked and has been cleaned back and refinished leaving a golden brown colour and the front, back and sides are all in the original finish with all the original brass label frames and turned wooden knobs. The drawers are 21" deep and each a have fixed central divider. A good heavy quality chest of drawers of unusual proportions in wonderful condition.

Original, quality early to mid 19th century white marble mortar with a composition pestle with the original turned fruitwood handle. The mortar, unusual in marble has the classical four ears to the thick bowl and is rather small for a solid marble one as against the normally found composition versions. The pestle is impressed '7' for the size and does have a minor chip but otherwise, all is complete and in good order and very usable.

Original, quality late 19th century larger than average cast iron rain hopper. This great example has a 'D' shaped centre with wide side flanges for mounting, each one with an Art Nouveau pierced cut out design and two bolt holes. This will fit 3.75" internal diameter downpipe if required for use or ideal for planting up on a wall. All in the old grey paintwork and complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century well-carved breadboard in Teak. This example is unusual in teak but still has the quality of intricate carving seen on old sycamore breadboards. The wide carved border is detailed in wild dog rose flowers and leaves or similar. Some minor chips to the outer rim but otherwise complete and in good order. The first we have seen of this design.

Robert Burns Brass Extending Toasting Fork Original, quality 1920's extending brass toasting fork with a cast brass bust of 'Robert Burns' to the top, two extensions to the stem, a barley twisted thicker main shaft and a three tined fork fashioned as three Thistle heads with leaves as the shoulders. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. This fork is good and firm when short and at full length and complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1920's large cast brass letter flap with an integral door knocker in a serious Art Nouveau style. The backplate has embossed detail of plant forms, the aperture flap has "Letters" in stylised upper cased text, and the large horizontal knocker is again in plant form. The reverse is impressed 'CJS' for the manufacturer and replacement spring bar, spring and threaded bolts have been fitted, and all is complete and in good and working order. A great looking piece of Art Nouveau.

Huntley & Palmers Kitchen Range Biscuit Tin See our "Tins, Huntley & Palmers" section for current stock of similar items.
Original, quality Huntley & Palmers biscuit tin issued in 1926 and entitled "Kitchen Range". This super tin is difficult to find in good condition today for when found the doors or catches are missing. The original paint on this example is generally in good condition as is the tin with just the minor rubbing and one scratch. The doors are hinged, and the latches do operate. The underside is etched "Huntley & Palmers biscuits Reading & London", and one end is printed 'HB & S Ltd R' for the manufacturer of the tin Huntley Bourne & Stevens Ltd. Cleaned and waxed and complete and in good order.

Original, quality 18th or early 19th century blacksmith made wrought iron " Crusie Lamp". These lamps were suspended from the ceiling in country cottages or the workplace and animal fat (Tallow) was burnt as an oil with a rope wick. The lower section would hold the hot coals or embers. This example has super curls (rams horns) decoration. Great to find these complete and in good order.

Original, quality 1920's cast iron counter bell in the realistic form or a Tortoise of Turtle as used on shop and hotel counters. This clean example has good detail and most of the original black japanned paintwork to the underside and all has been fully overhauled, cleaned and lacquered. This clockwork model has a fixed key to the underside and the tail or the head can be pressed to activate the bell. All is complete and in good and working order.

Tin Trunk Original, quality late 19th century tin travelling trunk in the original faux wood grained paintwork. This very clean example has also retained the original pale blue paint to the interior and the original brass hasp and catch to the front. The brass is impressed "Legge Patent Warranted" and has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and a replacement key has been made to suit. The exterior of this trunk has been cleaned and lacquered and all is complete and in good and working order.

Anvil on Stand Original, quality late 19th century tinsmiths anvil mounted on an old tree trunk for a base. This example not overly heavy has a double-pointed body section with a slender stem with one point with a rounded body and the other with a flat top surface. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century two door, honey coloured oak smoker's cabinet in the realistic scaled down form of a miniature fireproof safe complete with keyhole covers stamped "Secure Lever", a lock and key, brass 'T' bar handles and brass coat of arms. The hinged doors open to reveal three drawers, a space for a tobacco jar and a pull out pipe rack. The lock has been fully overhauled, the key works, the brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and the lock cover to the inside of the cabinet is impressed with the registration number for the year 1886. All is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 18th or early 19th century approx quart size, copper tankard, originally Sheffield plated. This superb example has lost its silver plating to the exterior but the lid interior has retained it. The shaped cast brass mounts to the side handle are normal for this type of tankard is the shape of the body and the lid is inset with a one shilling silver piece dated 1797. All is complete and in good order with not a dent in sight and has been polished and lacquered.

Original, quality late 19th century, set of four matching lignum vitae bowling woods with inset ivorine discs to each side. This superb set are impressed to the wood for the maker "Thomas Taylor of Glasgow" and engraved to the ivorine disc with the monogram of the original owner to one side and the numbers '1' to '4' to the other. No splits or cracks and complete and in good order. Lignum Vitae is heavy and hard and one of the few woods that with not float.

The underside is marked "The Property of Worthington & Co Ltd Burton on Trent" and "Mintons England" for the manufacturer. Some minor crazing otherwise complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality very unusual decorated version of the white ceramic 'Mecca' Footwarmer manufactured by "Grimwades, Winton China Works, Stoke on Trent". The underside is detailed as such and with the registration number for the year 1910. The body is decorated in colour to all sides in a chinoiserie pattern including the original screw in stopper. All complete and in good order with just a minuscule chip to the bead decoration on the stopper. The first we have seen of this model.

Original, quality late 19th century engraved brass postal scales mounted on the original shaped walnut plinth with the original fitted glass inkwell and old replacement brass weights. This most unusual example is the first we have seen. The brass scales are engraved with flowers and leaf designs to the front and top, the inkwell is in moulded glass with a cast brass hinge and collar to the lid and the walnut plinth is mounted on three bun feet. The weights are of the correct number and denomination but the originals would have been engraved. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled and complete and in good and working order.

Lignum Vitae Intercom Tube Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, two piece intercom tube mount in lignum vitae and fitted to the original brass and iron pipe mounts.The mouthpiece and whistle are in super condition and work well. These were used in smart houses and hotels etc for communicating to different floors. This example would have another at the other end of the pipe. Most unusual to find these in good order today.

Original, quality, late 18th or early 19th century, steel tooth key with a two piece buffalo horn hand grip. The removable key is stamped "3" and is sprung retained. These tooth keys were used to extract the molar teeth before the days of anesthetic. A super example, complete and in good order.

Doulton Sanitary Fountain Original, quality late 19th century two tone glazed stoneware bird drinker / feeder with a recessed access to the front, transfer decorated with leaves and flowers and "Sanitary Fountain Doulton Lambeth" and with the registration for the year 1896. This example is impressed "3P" to the shoulder for the size, three pints. The principle is self filling and the birds cannot soil the food or water.

Original, quality late 19th century pair of small wall brackets with 'D' shaped mahogany shelves mounted on a fabulous pair of cast brass shelf brackets in the realistic form of curled snakes with super detail. The backmounts each have three countersunk screw holes for mounting and bear a registration lozenge mark for the year 1882. One mahogany shelf has a burn mark probably from a candlestick when in use and the brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order. These were probably desgined for candle brackets.
