Original, quality all copper food warming / heating tabletop cabinet circa 1900. This most unusual item, the first we have seen, was designed by W.A.S Benson and is stamped to the underside of one leg strut "British Made" with the three hammers and "W.A.S.B." logo. This cabinet has a hinged drop down flap to the front, with the original turned ebony knob, two spirit burners sitting on circular trays underneath and ceramic bun feet beneath the cast brass legs and stretchers. All is original, complete and in super condition with just minor repairs to the caps on the burners and replacement wick holder inserts to the burners made to suit copied from the original. Fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.

Original, quality late 19th century brass letter flap with a fixed brass door pull bar, a decorative outer edge to the backplate and "Letters" impressed to the flap in upper cased text, all in the Art Noveau style. The reverse is impressed for the manufacturer "Gibbons" of Wolverhampton and the registration number for the year 1894 and has the original decorative large brass stud covers for mounting. Replacement bar and spring has been fitted and now all is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality post-war wrought iron exterior 'down' bell pull with a twisted rod on a decorative backplate, an open fretted cast iron pull grip, and a replacement top externally mounted wrought iron return spring mounting with strong springs. All has been cleaned, undercoated and top coated with black paint and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality 1950's advertising, electric lightbox with the original blacksmith made wrought iron wall bracket. The lightbox has a repeated illustration of a Newspaper Boy with a basket of Newspapers in a W.H Smith uniform and cap and the 'WHS' logo to the bottom corner. One side panel is glazed in white glass the underside is in clear glass and the other side has a hinged cover to access for changing the bulbs. This unit has been rewired with two new bulb holders and three core exterior covered flex. Although this unit is not designed for outdoor use so presumably it was used originally, either inside the shop window or elsewhere in the shop or perhaps in a shopping centre. The original blacksmith wrought iron wall bracket is generally in good order, although it has many old coats of paint and would benefit being stripped and repainted. A wonderful find in amazing condition.

Original, quality large late 19th century, table dinner gong, with a pair of polished cow horns forming an arch, with a circular brass gong suspended between. All is mounted on a honey coloured oval oak plinth, with the hammer on stands to the front. The mounts are in nickel, with an oval plaque beneath the hammer for engraving if desired. The brass and nickel has all been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order. Some minor dents to the gong but otherwise, a super looking gong with a good tone and resonance.

Original, quality superb early 19th century cast iron umbrella stand in outstanding condition. This example has two very decorative side supports of an open design with a matching three-railed top section with five-pointed finials, all mounted on a sturdy cast iron plinth with a lift-out full-length tray to catch the water from umbrellas and walking sticks. The underside of the tray and base are embossed with the manufacturer's details for "James Yates of Rotherham" and the "Registration Date January 27th 1843" and the same is engraved in a script to the underside of both end sections and the upper three railed top section. All is complete and in good and working order with no repairs, with nothing missing and all has been cleaned and finished in a coat of clear lacquer.

Original, quality late 19th century brass protective case for a pocket watch worn whilst working, usually carried by Miners or Railway workers when at work. This example in remarkable condition has a screw on / off front with a bevelled glass panel and the reverse is impressed 5 1/2 presumably for the size. GR V Wall Mounted Cast Iron Posting Box See our "Postboxes & Postage" section for current stock of similar items
Original, quality cast iron wall-mounted Post Office 'Post Box'. This model was always in a sub-post office which ensured it could be opened from inside the post office without going outside. Both the doors have a lock and key, the front door key is stamped "Chubb London" for the lock manufacturer and has two pins to the top to open and close the keyhole cover. The front door has the Monogram for King George V 1911 to 1936 and the posting slot in embossed "Post Office" to the cover with the King's Crown above in relief. This example has much of the old red paint but it would benefit from a blasting and repaint. All is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality matching pair of late 19th century Scottish costrell shaped whisky flasks in unbelievable condition. Each one is bound in cane and fitted with the original shoulder straps and barrel harness, brass bung cover and brass padlock with key. The brass covers are stamped "H.G.M" for the original owner and the barrels are impressed to one end "1 Quart" and "4 Quarts". All is complete and in good and working order and all are as they came, with one exception, replacement keys were altered to suit, note also the brass padlocks which came with the flasks are a true pair. These flasks were carried by deerstalkers.

This good example made from a tapered bamboo shaft has a weighted cast brass head with decoration around and a steel cap to the top. The shaft has brass mounts to each joint in the cane and a smaller cast brass decorated mount to the base. Pair of Gibbons Brass Rim Lock Sets See our "Door Locks & Latches" section for current stock of similar items
A pair of original, quality late 19th century matching, surface mounted heavy all brass door locks with keeps, keys, keyhole surrounds and spherical shaped door knobs. Will take a standard modern square bar for the handles. Replacement keeps have been made to suit and replacement keys cut to fit. These locks have the provision for a handle turn and a key lock.This superb set was one the most elaborate models produced by W. Gibbons of Wolverhampton. When purchased, the lock on the right of the pictures was empty and the shell was being used as the keep on a large pair of double doors. We have rebuilt the internal mechanism using the complete lock as a guide and we have made it in brass as the original. The lock on the left is marked for 'Gibbons' the rebuilt one is not. The keeps are replacements we have made to suit as are the keys. The keyhole surrounds are the original as are the decorative spandrels and fretted fronts to the locks. Three of the handles are the original and the fourth is very similar and of similar age. All have been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order.

Cast Iron Grisset Original, quality mid 19th century cast iron Grisset bowl in the form of a Tortoise Shell on four legs. The purpose of a grisset is to catch the drips of animal and bird fat whilst roasting on an open fire. A part peeled rush was then drawn through the fat as it cools down to form a rushlight. Cleaned and waxed and complete and in good order.

Original, quality late 19th century grocers' / butchers' counter scale with a blacksmith made wrought iron centre column on a decorative cast iron base and mounted with the brass beam scale. This example has three brass chain rods with a heavy cast brass pan for the weights to one side and a circular porcelain plate to the other with a brass frame support. A stack of old brass weights and a 2lb and 1lb brass bell shaped weight are included. The ceramic slab is transfer printed for "W&T Avery of Birmingham" the manufacturer of the scale and the horizontal brass beam is stamped for the same, back and front. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all will dismantle into nine pieces for ease of transport and all is complete and in good and working order. A super all original set of scales.

This set comprises a shovel, tongs and poker in brass with urn-shaped copper finial grips. The piercing to the shovel was to sift through the embers and put back onto the fire all but the ash, the tongs have a copper decoration to the hinge and circular copper disc-shaped covers and the poker has a square section tip in wrought iron. Original, quality, 19th century blacksmith made wrought iron mancur scale with a crescent shaped brass dial, calibrated on both sides. These scales were used to weigh wool in sacks, after shearing the sheep. The small hook and suspension ring are used to weigh up to 50lb in 5lb divisions, and the larger hook and ring would weigh from 20lb to 300lb in 20lb divisions. All has been cleaned and lacquered and is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century, eight pint copper kettle with lid and embossed and engraved detail to the shoulders. The lid has an acorn finial and the detail to the shoulders is "Good Luck" to one side surrounded with leaves and a horseshoe, with leaves and berries to the other. The underside is impressed with the logo for the manufacturer "William Soutter of Birmingham" and "8" for the size. The internal tinning is in good order and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. In very usable condition. Original, quality late 19th century cast iron door knocker in the aesthetic movement design and almost certainly designed by Dr Christopher Dresser. This good example is impressed to the reverse of the backplate with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1878 and "406" for the model number and the reverse of the knocker is impressed ' No 406' and with the registration lozenge mark again and for the manufacturer "A Kenrick & Sons". All has been cleaned and lacquered and has been fitted with replacement threaded bolts, nuts and washers. All is now complete and in good and working order. Quite a scarce example to find.

Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, blue glass fire grenades with the original wire rack to take three grenades. Both bottles are perfect, one is empty and the other is still sealed with most of the original contents and some of the original paper label. These grenades were usually filled with a solution of sodium bicarbonate. The whole grenade was thrown onto a small domestic fire to extinguish the flames. The wire rack was designed to sit on a shelf or hang on a nail on the wall. Not common examples, complete and in good order.

Pair of original, quality larger than average 18th or early 19th century cast brass, drop ring door handles, fitted with a replacement steel bar, made to suit. These have been converted to fit both standard rim and mortice locks and latches. These handles were originally fitted by the blacksmith for each lock and door as required and, although we have converted these to fit standard locks and latches, we need to alter each bar and fitting in length to suit your door and lock measurements. So when ordering these handles, we require the measurements of the thickness of your door and, if a rim lock is fitted, the thickness of your lock also. When you receive the handles after our adjustment, it will fit your door and lock precisely.

Original, quality late 19th century five piece carving set in the original fully fitted oak box with blue velvet to the interior on the base and blue silk to the lid interior detailed by the manufacturer "Mappin & Webb Cutlers Sheffield London". This superb set has hallmarked silver ferrules and ends for the Sheffield Assay Office and the year 1886. The silver end mounts are also detailed with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1867. The larger knife and fork are for larger joints of meat and the smaller ones are for poultry. The sharpening steel is marked Mappin & Webb and both the forks have good sprung safety guards used when carving. Remember, these pieces of cutlery are steel, not stainless steel, and will keep a very sharp edge, but they dislike water or moisture; just wipe and dry them thoroughly. A super clean set of meat carving tools having seen very little use. All is complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality post war chromed 'AA' motor car badge issued for the "New Zealand Automobile Association" and marked as such above the wings at the top. This example is stamped with the membership number "A20540" and "Auckland" to the front and "Property of the Automobile Association, Auckland New Zealand" to the reverse. Has two holes for badge bar mounting. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good order.

Original, quality late 19th century fireproof safe, sandblasted stove enamelled black to the exterior and cold painted grey to the inside. This superb example has all the original brass fittings to the door and the original paintwork to the inner door panel with a superb original promotional illustration of the range of safes manufactured at the time. The brass plates to the front of the door all detail the manufacturer "Milners' of Liverpool & London" and the large circular plate has the Royal Coat of Arms. The lock mechanism to the door has been fully overhauled and has two replacement keys made to suit. The brass has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order.
Exterior 24" tall x 18" wide plus 19.5" front to back including hinges.
Interior 18" tall x 12" wide plus 10.5" front to back.

Benham & Froud Oval Copper Braising Pan See our "Kitchenalia" section for current stock of similar items.
Original, quality late 19th century oval copper braising pan with the original top cover. The interior of the main pan and the underside of the top cover are well tinned and suitable for use. The upper side of the cover is embossed "E.K. Wilson Ironmonger 5 Sussex Place S.W." and the underside of the base unit is impressed with the orb and cross logo for the manufacturer 'Benham and Froud' of London and Birmingham. The lower flange to the upper cover has minor dents but otherwise is complete and in good order and suitable for use. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost.
Pan and lid only 10" tall plus 17" x 11.5".
Total including handles 11.75" tall x 19.5".
Main pan only 16" x 10.25" x 7.25".

Pair of Carved Wooden Stirrups Original, quality pair of pre-war carved hardwood South American stirrups as worn with steel loops suspended on either side of the saddle. A fantastic example of wood carving. Complete and in good order.

Original, quality 1920's copper fender with Arts & Crafts designs in a hammered finish to include overlapped corners and ends, a rolled over top trim and a sheet steel floor. The copper has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and the floor cleaned and repainted black. A good look of Newlyn but not marked as such. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality late 19th century cast brass pen rack in the form of a brass horseshoe with four pairs of horse nails to the front for the pens, a replacement fold flat easel, a hook for the pocket watch and a jockey hat to the top for decoration. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order.

Pair of Brass Snakes Original, quality pair of 1920's / 30's cast brass "Rearing Cobras" probably of Indian origin and great lookers. The backs and front are engraved with detail and punch decorated to simulate the snakeskin. These are the first we have seen and have now been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and are complete and in good order.

Original, quality 1920's sheet brass electric hall lamp in the shape of a shepherd's lantern with a pagoda-style roof, brass bars protecting the four panels of pobbly clear glass and with four ball feet. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Fully overhauled, rewired and supplied with a replacement brass ceiling rose and a length of brass chain. Complete and in good and working order.

Original, quality mid 19th century dark grey granite curling stone of the earlier Scottish form. This unusual example has the original brass handle with a replacement ebony grip made to suit copied from an original. The underside of the body is polished smooth whereas the rest has a rough finish. The stone has been washed and waxed and the brass polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and all is complete and in good and working order.
Stone 9.75" diam.
4.75" tall.
