Large Brass Box Iron L282

Original, quality late 19th century "donkeys' ear" shaped, larger than average cast brass box iron with a lift-up gate to the rear and a super wooden 'D' shaped handle over the top. This unusual example, the largest we have seen is missing the slug for heating but otherwise all is complete and in wonderful condition. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. The floor to the interior is embossed with the number "9" or "6".
