Old, original, nothing reproduced
Below Stairs of Hungerford is a unique antique shop specialising in items of the 19th and early 20th century. Our High Street shop, with five themed showrooms set around the courtyard, opens a magical view into the period.
All our stock is old, original and beautifully presented, with an emphasis on good English items. We carry no modern pieces and no reproductions.
Our stock
The online catalogue showcases thousands of items from our current stock, available to order directly. The shop and showrooms hold a great deal more besides.
Providing good, honest descriptions is a central part of our service, so you can buy with confidence. Our stock is mainly refurbished in our own workshops and sold ready for use.
Restoration
We are also pleased to quote for restoration work on customers' own items. If you have a piece that needs attention, do get in touch.
Looking for something particular?
If you collect a particular subject, or are searching for a specific item, we maintain a very successful customer requirements file. Let us know what you are looking for and we would be pleased to add your details.
Worldwide delivery
Pictures and prices can be sent by email, and deliveries can be arranged worldwide. Our online store calculates dispatch costs automatically for most items. For unusual shapes, weights or more complex destinations, we will calculate and quote individually.
