8 Pint John Tams Ale Measure M154
£135.00 GBP
Original, quality, very large ale measure jug in white ceramic with transfer decoration of hops and barley to both sides, a pouring lip and a side handle. The underside is transfer printed in black with the 'Crown Pottery' logo, "Patent Government Stamped Measure, Sole Patentee and Maker, John Tams Longton", "Hop and Barley" and with the registration number for the year 1905. I can not find the custom and excise etched mark, but all is complete otherwise and has the stepped rim around the handle. This jug does have an 1.5" hairline crack to one side of the lip, but no damage or chips otherwise. This eight pint jug is a most unusual example, the largest we have seen.
9" tall. Base 8.25" diameter. 10.5" wide including handle and spout.
