WT&S Brass Fire Iron Tidy F553

Original, quality late 19th century cast brass fire iron tidy with an inset cast iron weight beneath. These were used in the hearth to stop the fire irons, tongs and poker, etc. sliding to the floor, but are also ideal as a doorstop. This example is most unusual in design and is impressed to the underside of the cast iron weight with the sun logo and "WT&S" for the manufacturer 'William Tonks & Son of Birmingham'. Polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order.
