Skirt Lifter SL6

Original, quality 1920's, nickel plated on brass skirt lifter, with a hook for the belt. These were worn by housekeepers or the lady of the house to hold up the front of their long skirts when ascending stairs whilst carrying a tray or similar. The hanging sprung clip would hold up the skirt six inches or so to prevent the leading foot rising up the stairs from treading on the skirt; thus preventing a trip. A very sensible and useful gadget. Complete and in good and working order.
