2 Piece Brass Clockwork Spit Bracket SB34

Original, quality late 19th century cast brass two piece bracket for a clockwork spit ( bottle jack ). This superb example has a fretted design to the backplate, arm and sliding hook and would have been mounted below the mantleshelf using the four countersunk screw holes, the bracket arm was projected out for use or flat against the mantel board when not. The spit would be suspended from the sliding hook in front of the open fire or range but not over it and the sliding hook could be moved nearer the heat or away according to the heat required. Bottle jack spits are often available in this same section, if not do ask. All has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and complete and in good and working order. Most unusual to find these with the sliding hook.
