Original, quality oval shaped silver plated biscuit box with a hinged lid and a fancy bead to the top and base edges. As often found the silver plating is badly rubbed to the engraved areas and also a few other places but the engraving to the lid details "Cirencester Polo Club 1922 Senior Cup won by 15th Hussars, Capt. N.W Leaf, Lieut J.G Leaf, Lieut W.R Hinde and Lt Col. Hon D. Bingham". The underside of the box is stamped with 'T B and S' for the maker and apart from the rubbing to the plate all is in superb condition and complete and in good order. Base 7.25" x 4.5" x 4" tall.

Original, quality, late 19th century, wall mounted Aneroid barometer, with a carved oak backmount, a cast brass bezel and a ceramic face. The oak has been refurbished and the brass polished and lacquered. Shows a little crazing here and there and a minor grain split to the oak, otherwise all is in super condition. The face is detailed in black Gothic text all with red capitals. Backboard 9" diameter, total 2.75" front to back, front glass 6" diameter.

Brass Banded Oak Bucket B2
Original quality, late 19th century, superb oak bucket made in the form of a barrel with heavy brass bands, screws and a swing handle. The bands are scallop engraved to the edges and the top band reads 'One Lord' in upper case, the second reads 'One Faith' and the third 'One Baptism'. Each dome headed screw is cross slotted. The oak has been cleaned and refinished and all the brass has been lacquered. A very unusual item in wonderful and complete condition. Barrel 13.25" high, base 8.25", widest 9.5" and 19.25" high with handle up.

Ceramic Bidet Liner B1
Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, kidney shaped, white ceramic bidet liner, decorated to the inside with well detailed illustrations of flowers, leaves, birds and insects to include moths, beetles, dragonflies and butterflies. The detail is in various pastel colours, with gilt highlights. The outer edge of the pan has a gilded line and this and some of the illustrations are a little rubbed, but all is complete and in superb order otherwise, with not a chip or crack in sight. The underside is impressed "F and M & Co", probably for the maker 'Frances Morley and Co, Hanley, Staffordshire Potteries 1845 to 1858'. 19.25" x 11" x 4.75" tall.

Original, quality olivewood or rosewood extending folding bookrack with super brass mounts in the original matt finish on well detailed grained wood. Each end has a brass plaque detailing "Betjeman's 16947", the underside has a good felt covering, and the elasticated connectors are still elasticated. All has been cleaned and is complete and in good and working order. A most unusual example. 13.5" x 6" x 1.75" tall folded down and 6.5" open. Space for books min 10.25" and max 17.5".

12 Piece Set of Fish Knives and Forks C34
Original, quality, late 19th century, near unused, cased set of six silver plated fish knives and six forks. This above average set of cutlery is in the Kings pattern, engraved with acanthus leaf patterns to the front and impressed to the reverse "EPNS" and for the manufacturer "WW&S". Apart from super condition of the cutlery, the other exciting thing is the quality of the box, complete with the working lock and key. This box is in mahogany veneer, with sycamore strips to the inner edges and the inside is completely lined and fitted with Royal blue velvet and pinched and pleated Royal blue silk. The lid lining is detailed on the silk for the retailer "Schults Scwar and Co, Watchmakers, Jewellers and Goldsmiths, Pretoria Transvaal and at 24 Clerkenwell Road London EC". Some minor scratches and knocks to the outside of the box, but otherwise all is in super condition. Box 10" x 9" and 2.5", knives 8.75", forks 7.25". Price is for the set.

Original, quality 1930's, steel cash box in the original simulated 'wood veneered' paintwork. This very clean example, with the original key, also has the original red paintwork to the interior, a lift out tray and a concealed alarm system under the false floor powered by replaceable batteries. Turn the key once to lock and twice to set the alarm and when the box is picked up the alarm is set off. Not only is the paintwork original inside and out, the original paper purchase receipt was stored in the battery area and dated December 19th 1933. Fully overhauled, complete and in good and working order. 9.5" x 7.5" and 5.25" tall.

Original, quality, late 19th century, small tin cash box in the form of a miniature tin travelling trunk. The original scrumbled bright orange / tan coloured paintwork has been retained to the outside, although a faded on the top. The interior is in Japanned black and originally had a lift out tray fitted. The brass mortice lock is stamped "Patent Lever" inside and out and "London", a replacement key has been cut to suit. The cast brass carry handle to the top is rather decorative, but also does the job well. A most unusual cash box, complete and in good and working order, with just the lift out tray missing. The brass has been polished and lacquered. 9" x 6" and 3.75" tall with handle down.

Original, quality, late 19th century, large cheese dish with cover of an unusual shape. This cream coloured ceramic dish is in the form of a styalised shell with an open gilded grip to the top. The decoration is of pastel coloured flowers with bolder dark green and gold swags and nose panel. The base is similar to match and all is in a good condition with no cracks or chips, but the base plate is heavly stained. The underside is printed with the manufactuer's logo for "W.A.A & Co" and both pieces are impressed with the registration number for the year 1897. Base 11" x 8.25", total 8" tall.

Original, quality 1920's, large wedge shaped, cream coloured ceramic cheese dish and cover. The base is plain with a decorated border in relief and gold lining. The three sided cover has repeated scenes of herons feeding in a lake with trees and foliage in the foreground, all in colour. The handle to the cover is in the form of looped foliage stems. Some very minor crazing, but no chips, cracks or fat stains and complete and in good order. Base 10.25" x 11", total 8" tall.

Original, quality, late 19th century, unused boxed set of silver plated dessert implements comprising a pair of fruit spoons, two nutcrackers, two nut picks and a pair of grape scissors. The scallop shaped fruit servers have gilded interiors to the bowls and all have embossed details to the grip. The box is also in mint condition with a blue velvet lining to the base, white silk lining to the hinged lid and 'leather paper' covering to the outside. The lid has the retailers label for "Murgatroyd and Horstall Artistic Jewellers, Corn Market, Halifax". All is truely in mint condition and a good push button catch to the front. Box 11" x 10" and 2" deep.

Copper and Wrought Iron Cakestand CS4
Original, quality, late 19th century, wrought iron and copper three tier cakestand stamped to the underside "Acanthus" for the pattern, "Townshend and Co" for the maker and with the registration number for the year 1891. This super example has three copper trays graduated in size and shape all with a rolled wavy outer gallery and an overall impressed abstract pattern. The larger lower tray is circular, the middle kidney shape and the upper a small oval. The blacksmith made wrought iron stand has three legs with curled over feet, twisted supports and decoration and a basket grip handle to the top. All has been cleaned / polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A most unusual cakestand in the Arts and Crafts style. 34" tall, 18" widest and 16" front to back.

The underside is impressed "EPNS" and "2 1/2 pint". The engraved detail reads "Mr and Mrs Julius Harrison from The Executive and Vocal Committee Jersey, Eisteddfod 1929". This jug is in super condition overall, with just a little wear to the silver plate around the engraved inscription. This stand was for setting a display of cut flowers and is a larger than normally found size. It is also most unusual to find these in coloured glass. The stand is of a clover leaf shape, with embossed decoration of leaves, stems and mythical beast heads and an acanthus leaf trim to the outer rim, all standing on three ball feet. The inkwell has a brass collar and hinge to the cut glass lid and apart from a few minor chips to the inside of the cap, all is complete and in good and working order. The underside has a maker's mark of "AFC" and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A most unusual example. 8.5" widest x 4.75" tall including inkwell.

Original, quality, moulded clear glass 'snail' shaped inkwell, mounted on a cast iron stand in the original bronze coloured finish. The sleigh shaped stand is decorated in relief, with acanthus leaves, has a pen rest to the top at the back and is impressed "Patented 1879". When the inkwell is tilted up, the neck is a flush fit to the back circular plate and when down enough ink is tilted forward for dipping the pen into. An ingenious invention which works very well and is a super find to have both pieces, still intact, barely used and still together. 3.5" tall x 2.5" wide and 5.5" front to back.

This example is a smaller one of the range of sizes, but not the smallest, was manufactured to a design by W.A.S Benson and has an unusual enamel liner to the inside. The hinged circular lid has the original turned cow horn knob and the shaped side handle is in brass. The underside is impressed "Benson's Patent" and all has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. Complete and in good and working order. Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, huge banded, white ceramic, bellied shaped water jug used to fill matching ceramic footbaths. This superb example has a strap handle to the rear, a super pouring lip and a decorative but effective hand grip to the front. Sadly this one is a little damaged, but still a great looker and still usable, despite the chip to the pouring lip and the 4" hairline crack from the top at the back. This jug needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. 11.25" tall x 9" wide and 12.75" front to back including handle and pouring lip.

Original, quality, late 19th century, circular and shaped brass jardiniere mounted on three cast brass legs with hoof shaped feet and with a pair of cast brass side ring handles. The sides taper out to the top and finish with a rolled over rim. Original, quality late 19th century ceramic toilet jug originally part of an ewer and basin set. This super example is in the form of a stylised seashell with a handle over the top and the crests of waves to the plinth. The handle to the top has simulated binding, and the whole jug is transfer decorated with yellow 'dog' roses with a bright yellow colour overall. The underside is transfer printed for "Bros trademark Stoke on Trent Staffordshire" and embossed with the registration number for the year 1899. The two wing mirrors have brass frames and black and gold coloured chinoiserie pictorial backing panels. All the hinged joints are in brass and the wooden frame has a chain mounted to the top edge, for wall hanging. Pair of original, quality, late 19th century, white ceramic square spirit flasks with side loop handles, narrow necks with pouring grooves and replacement brass mounted cork stoppers made to suit copied from originals. These super flasks are transfer decorated in black to the shoulder and above with flowers and one has a gothic "G" for Gin and the other "I.W." for Irish Whisky. The undersides are both impressed with the registration lozenge mark for the year 1877. No chips or cracks and complete and in good and working order. The first we have seen of this style. Original, quality, mid to late 19th century, decorated ceramic slops pail, orginally part of a jug and basin set. This example has a super bellied shape, with side handles and is decorated with floral designs to both sides. The background is off white with blue and red detail to the handles, base and top collar and the flowers include hibiscus, poppies, peony, chrysanthemums and tulips. The underside has the manufacturer's logo of a buckled belt, with a crown above and is marked "Rassova" and "No W.B.". Although a little crazed to the interior, with a short hairline crack to the base inside only and without lid, all is otherwise in super condition. Ideal for a jardiniere or a waste paper basket, it was in use as an umbrella stand when I purchased it. 11" tall x 11" front to back + 12.5" wide including handles.

The cast pink brass side handles are decorated with Acanthus leaf designs, the cast brass tap has a bone finial grip and the lid has a flower shaped finial/grip mounted above the vented area. The urn shaped body is mounted on a slender neck onto a shaped plinth with ribbed corner mounts and four bun feet. The rim on the plinth and the top rim have bands of pink cast brass as has the central body section. The heating bar and assembly to the inside is missing, but all is complete and in good and working order otherwise and has been polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost. A super samovar in super condition. 16" tall and 13" front to back including handle tap. 14.5" wide including and 7" square base at feet.

Unpolished Copper Samovar TU16
Original, quality late 18th/early 19th century fancy copper samovar/tea urn, complete with the brass tap with a green stained ivory finnial and the lift out cast iron heating bar. The cast brass side handles are fashioned as eagle heads with a lifting ring through the necks. The oval shaped urn is supported on four flat reeded legs terminating in lions' paw feet and the tops of the legs have a lion's face embellishment. The lid of the urn has a figure of a sphinx as the grip above the vent holes and the base has another but differing sphinx. The front of the urn has a lozenge shaped silver plaque for engraving but not engraved and this has a good clear Georgian hallmark. The urn interior has good tinning and a replacement cast iron heating bar made to suit copied from an original. The exterior is in outstanding unpolished condition with only the odd very minor dent. All is complete and in good and working order. If you did wish to use it and has been fully overhauled. 18" tall and 13" front to back including tap. 13" wide including handle and 9" x 7" stand including feet.

The urn shaped body is mounted on a slender neck onto a square plinth with the original bun feet. The rim of the circular section of the base., the finial to the lid and the bands of pink brass to the shoulder and neck, all have finely detailed pattern trims. A replacement cast iron heating bar has been made to suit. All has been fully overhauled, polished and lacquered, although the lacquer may be removed at no extra cost and is complete and in good and working order. These urns were used on the counter or bar in the pub, café or hotel, to heat up water and pour into a mug or cup of Bovril extract and were stood on a stove or over a gas ring beforehand to boil the water. Original, quality, late 19th century, silver coloured free blown 'witches ball' with a neck and a sheared top, a later wire loop for hanging has been fitted and the original string net is included. This super example has a few blemishes to the mercury mirror interior, some good glass blowing lines, otherwise complete and in good order. We have not seen these in the nets before. These glass balls are said to have properties to ward off evil and witches, but I believe they were used in the larger houses and shops to throw around the light from the candle and oil lighting. 14" tall including neck but excluding wire, 12" diameter. Other similar balls may well be available.
